May we present: our development projects

GS1 Finland is collaborating with industry leaders on a development project to create a roadmap for implementing interoperable traceability solutions across Finland's food chain. Through such interoperability, companies can not only meet stricter regulatory requirements but also boost the competitiveness of the food chain and increase exports.

Mtech Digital Solutions' TRACE research project (Traceable and Responsible Attribute Data Creation for Food Ecosystem) investigates the creation, sharing and utilization of attribute data by the primary production in the food ecosystem.

GS1 Finland executed a development project together with the Finnish food industry and grocery trade operators, which aimed at a practical level to solve the new information requirements set for the food chain by the EU's deforestation regulation.

The sustainability technology company Infine lead the Food Data Finland development project, which aimed to create criteria for sustainability. The project, carried out in collaboration with corporate partners and the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke), focused on defining the boundaries and thresholds for sustainability, while also increasing the understanding of sustainability.

Together with food industry and retail trade companies, GS1 prepared a proposal how the GS1 2D code could be used when communicating products to consumers and thus facilitate consumers' access to product information.

GS1 Finland carried out a development project that mappped the prerequisites and readiness of food industry and retail trade companies for the introduction of the GS1 2D code. In addition, the project prepared a project plan for a possible industry GS1 2D code implementation project.

GS1 together with the actors of the food value chain compiled a data model of food sustainability in Finland. The development project belonging to the Food Data Finland Growth Engine program prepared a proposal, how data related to food sustainability could move from primary production to food industry, retail trade and all the way to consumers.
