Data model of raw material master data
GS1 Finland's Data model of raw material master data development project defined a structured and consistent way to identify and share key raw material information throughout the food chain. The aim was to enable the smooth and interoperable transfer of information throughout the chain, starting from primary production.
GS1 Finland is coordinating a program to build interoperable traceability in the Finnish food chain. This requires that raw materials are also reliably identified and that information about them is shared in a harmonised way. In this way, information can be passed along the chain in an interoperable way all the way from the field.
The development project Data model of raw material master data defined a common food chain approach for the identification of raw materials in selected product groups. It also identified the mandatory and optional information relevant for the identification and, on this basis, created a data model for basic raw material information.
